The U.S. Department of Agriculture provides a list of all the fruits and vegetables that you can bring back to the U.S. without any permit for non-commercial purpose.
Please keep in mind that you must declare all fruits and vegetables. Some foreign governments require certain certificates to export plants and seeds. For example, Mexico requires a phytosanitary certificate if you plan to import plants and seeds to the United States. Also, it’s prohibited to bring any soil from Mexico to the United States.
Note: Individuals who fail to declare non-commercial agricultural items may be subject to penalties ranging from $1,100 to $60,000 per violation.
To find out which fruits and vegetables are allowed to be imported to the U.S. by country visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture by clicking on Fruits and Vegetables Allowed.
Select the country you’re coming back from in the drop-down menu on the top left corner of the page.
